Woman Dies A Week After Being Discovered In Alley

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating an incident that left a woman with serious injuries that ultimately led to her losing her life.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on June 13, 2024, around 6:30 a.m., officers responded an alley in the area of 2500 North 46th Street regarding a woman being found who looked to have been assaulted. Officers arrived and located the woman later identified as 64-year-old Margie New. New was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of multiple injuries. New never regained consciousness and on Friday June 21, 2024 she died. On June 24, 2024 the autopsy revealed severe trauma to New’s body and resulted in the manner of death being ruled homicide.

Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) and provide an anonymous tip. Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest in this case.
