Early Morning Shooting Leaves Two Dead One Jailed

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating the fatal shooting that left two men dead and another man in jail.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on October 28, 2024, around 3:20 a.m., officers responded to the area of 67th Avenue and Highland Avenue regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men, identified as 34-year-old Jose Jimenez and 21-year-old Marquez Booker, were pronounced deceased on scene. The suspect in the shooting took off on foot after the incident.

Homicide detectives have identified as 20-year-old Jessie Olvera as the suspect. Olvera was tracked to a residence in the area of 73rd Avenue and Sanna Street, in Peoria. Olvera was taken into custody after a barricade at a nearby home. Olvera was interviewed by detectives and made incriminating statements.

Olvera was booked on multiple felony charges to include 2nd degree murder. Additional details related to this incident remain part of the ongoing investigation.
