Student Arrested For Arson At Grand Canyon University

A 19-year-old student has been arrested in connection with the arson a Grand Canyon University (GCU).

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on October 27, 2024, shortly after 9:20 a.m., the Department was contacted by the Phoenix Fire Department after they responded to GCU near 5300 North 30th Drive regarding a fire inside of one of the buildings. The fire was quickly extinguished and caused minor damage to the building. Water damage from the sprinkler system was significant, however, the scene indicated the likelihood of this incident being an arson.

Investigators began to work on leads which led them to a possible suspect identified as 19-year-old Jacob Jarvis. Jarvis was located and arrested. Jarvis admitted to committing the arson. Jarvis resides on campus.

Jarvis was booked into jail on arson charges.
