FBI director nominee Kash Patel’s charitable foundation has given over $1 million to efforts ensuring government transparency.

The Kash Foundation prioritizes its donations to veterans, active duty military, law enforcement, public education on governance, higher education scholarships, and legal defense funds for whistleblowers, defamed American citizens, and other government accountability efforts.

Glendale Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 12 thanked Patel for his continued backing of law enforcement.

“Thank you for supporting law enforcement @Kash_Patel,” posted Glendale FOP Lodge 12 on X.

Patel was formerly a Justice Department prosecutor, and in the first Trump administration he served as chief of staff to former defense secretary Christopher Miller and senior advisor to the acting director of national intelligence Richard Grenell.

One form of tuition assistance offered by the Kash Foundation is the Josh Cremeans Scholarship Fund, established last year to honor the memory of a longtime friend of the foundation and quadriplegic, Josh Cremeans.

Past donors per records pulled by ProPublica include the Thatcher Foundation, K&L Baxter Foundation, Christian Heritage Foundation, Thrivent Charitable Impact & Investing, and Donor Advised Charitable Giving.

The foundation leaders are board members Jesse Binnall, founder and CEO of Binnall Law Group, president of Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University’s Alumni Association, and director and senior counsel for the American Institute for Law & Liberty; Andrew Ollis, CEO of Believe Media and former wildland firefighter; and William A. Onofry, lawyer with the firm Walsh & Onofry.

Kash Foundation spokeswoman Erica Knight said that their initiative’s achievement of raising over $1 million proved Patel’s dedication to the American people. Knight clarified that Patel, a president and board member of the foundation, receives no financial benefit from funds raised — all funds go toward grant giving.

“Reaching the $1 million mark in grants is a reflection of Kash Patel’s steadfast dedication to serving Americans,” said Knight. “This foundation was created to ensure individuals and families have the resources they need to stand up for what’s right. We are honored to be part of a movement that is making a real difference.”

Should Patel be confirmed as FBI director, he will resign from the foundation’s board, says Knight. Even without Patel, the foundation plans to continue its mission of fundraising to support government accountability.

“We’re just getting started,” said Knight. “Our mission is clear, and we will continue to fight for Americans and the principles that make this nation great. Together, we can ensure that every voice is heard, protected and fostered for a more unified tomorrow.”

President-elect Donald Trump announced Patel’s nomination last weekend on Truth Social.

“Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending Justice, and protecting the American People,” said Trump.

Vice President-elect JD Vance signaled his support for Patel’s nomination while touring North Carolina to survey storm damages on Friday.

“We’re fully behind Kash’s nomination,” said Vance. “I actually think he’s in a very good spot for his nomination.”

Earlier this week, Vance posted on X that Kash must be an excellent pick based on an assessment from prominent Trump critic, former national security advisor John Bolton.

“John Bolton has been wrong about everything so I guess Kash must be pretty awesome,” said Vance.
