Trump Delivers On Campaign Promises With A Slew Of Executive Orders

trump

On his first day in office, Trump did what few elected officials do these days, namely doing what he promised he would do if elected. This entailed issuing quite a few executive orders, dealing with a variety of subjects.

With his initial volley of executive orders, Trump addressed, directly or indirectly, many of the issues that are important to Arizona voters. There is also a reasonable expectation that he will continue to address these and other important issues as his presidency unfolds. He also took steps to undo some of the damage that Biden did with his executive orders. Here are some examples.

Addressing Immigration And Border Security

It is an accepted concept that for a country to exist, it must be supported by three pillars, namely language, culture, and borders. While all three pillars have been weakened in recent years, the border, especially our southern border, has suffered the most because of Biden’s open border policy. Several of the measures taken by Trump are aimed at correcting that situation, including but not limited to:

  • Completing as much of a physical wall as possible
  • Deterring and preventing the entry of illegal aliens into the United States
  • Removing promptly all aliens who enter or remain in violation of Federal law
  • Obtaining complete operational control of the borders of the United States
  • Detaining aliens who enter our country illegally until they are removed from the U. S.

Fixing The 14th Amendment

The Fourteenth Amendment was created to correct a previous supreme court ruling that prevented people of African origin to become U. S. citizens. It has been misinterpreted to mean that anyone who is born here is automatically a U. S. citizen. Then in 1965, Lyndon Johnson signed into law the Hart-Celler Act, which did away with immigration quotas in favor of unifying families. This enabled aliens to participate in the chain immigration schemes that we have today. A common way to misuse this law is for pregnant aliens to “vacation” or illegally enter the U. S. during the last days of pregnancy so that the baby is delivered here, thus creating a permanent tool for chain migration. Several of Trump’s executive orders are aimed at either amending or reinterpreting the Fourteenth Amendment.

Several states have already joined in challenging this order, including Arizona. See related article HERE

Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion

Few social concepts have been more devastating than making hiring and benefit decisions based on diversity, equity, and inclusion. One of Trump’s executive orders is to do away with DEI in favor of qualifications when making decisions across the federal government. In recent months there has been, in the private sector, an increasing departure from DEI policies, as companies have begun to recognize how destructive those policies are. Trump’s actions will bring the federal government in sync with this.

Freezing Federal Civilian Hiring

This order prohibits the filling of any federal position that was vacant on January 20 and no new positions may be created. This order does not apply to military personnel of the armed forces or to positions related to immigration enforcement, national security, or public safety.

Climate Change

Trump followed through on his campaign promise to end the Green New Deal and revoke the electric vehicle mandate. This will have the effect of allowing the market, not the government, to decide what type of vehicles should be produced, and it will ease the unreasonable burden of government regulations that invoke climate change as an excuse for their imposition.

The original text of these executive orders is difficult to obtain because the Federal Register does not publish them until the end of the presidential term. However, the Wall Street Journal has compiled the text of all the January 20 orders. That material may be accessed  here

  1. The 4473 form I filled out yesterday still has male, female, and non-binary for sex. It wasn’t a hard copy either. I guess ATF isn’t going along with the president’s orders. He needs to nominate a new director, I really would prefer Brandon Herrera.
