A Phoenix man, Percy Shaquel Rogers, has been indicted on nine counts of Child Sex Trafficking, a Class Two Felony, and one count of Assault, a Class One Misdemeanor in a case involving a teenage runaway from Texas.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, in late 2024, a 16-year-old juvenile victim ran away from her home southeast of Dallas and later told police she was being sex trafficked in both Texas and Colorado. She then engaged in social media conversations with Rogers, who was in Phoenix. Rogers purchased a bus ticket for the victim to travel to New Mexico, where he picked her up and brought her to Phoenix.
In early January, Phoenix Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the missing girl. The tip included a sex trafficking ad and further information indicating the missing girl was in Phoenix. Phoenix Police also received information from a Texas law enforcement agency on a possible address for the girl.
While police tried to locate the missing juvenile by investigating Rogers for possible prostitution involvement, she contacted police and was recovered. Rogers was arrested shortly after.
Rogers is in custody on a $200,000 cash bond. A trial date has not yet been scheduled.
