A Maricopa County man, Noel Jesus Gordillo, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Christopher Gonzales in early 2023.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, on March 5, 2023, law enforcement responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man bleeding from the head. Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim inside a local business near 28th Drive and Cactus Road. Gonzales was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, which showed the victim standing with two others near 28th Drive. Gordillo approached on a bicycle, stopped in front of Gonzales, and fired a single shot, striking him in the head.
Gonzales sought help at a nearby business but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. With surveillance footage, witness statements, and 911 calls, law enforcement identified Gordillo as the suspect and arrested him on March 15, 2023.
At the time of the murder, Gordillo had already served two prison sentences and had six prior felony convictions.
