Amy Bockerstette, a Phoenix native, is a trailblazing amateur golfer and disabilities advocate. She made history as the first person with Down syndrome to receive an athletic scholarship to attend college and to compete in a national collegiate championship. Amy gained national attention at the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open when she confidently parred the 16th hole alongside PGA Tour players Gary Woodland and Matt Kuchar, inspiring millions with her mantra, “I got this.” This moment led to the creation of the I GOT THIS Foundation, which promotes golf instruction and playing opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Amy continues to advocate for inclusion in sports and beyond through her foundation and public appearances.
