Body Of 21-Year-Old Recovered From Bartlett Lake

The body of a 21-year-old man who drowned at Bartlett Lake on Saturday was recovered on Sunday.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), on Saturday May 3rd 2025 at approximately 4:30 p.m. deputies responded to a call for a potential drowning located at the far end of Barlett Flats. Witnesses stated a male was swimming and began struggling.

Two people attempted to rescue the male which was unsuccessful.

MCSO was advised that the victim was not wearing a life jacket and had been under water for 15 minutes. Deputies responded by ground and water to the area. Searches were conducted with divers and ROV assets. The victim was recovered on 5/4/2025 and identified as 21-year-old Juan Ojeda-Valdez. The investigation is ongoing and no foul is suspected.
