
Phoenix Police Department detectives were called to a fatal collision early Thursday morning where a young man was killed trying to cross the road outside of any marked crosswalks.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, just before 5:00 a.m., on July 3, 2025, officers were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a passenger car near 4800 South 16th Street. As officers got to the area, they found the victim identified as 21-year-old Angel Gamboa-Serrano suffering from critical injuries. Phoenix Fire took Gamboa-Serrano to the hospital where he was not able to overcome his injuries and died.
Detectives learned Gamboa-Serrano was attempting to walk across 16th Street outside of any marked crosswalks when he was hit by a car driven by an adult female.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for pre-caution.
