24-year-old Alyssa Soto, who shot at a family in a Tesla, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of Drive-By Shooting, a Class Two Felony.
In August 2024, the victim was driving with his wife and infant daughter near North Higley Road and East McKellips when a GMC driven by Soto pulled up next to their vehicle. Soto began yelling and cursing at the family. When the victim responded by making a hand gesture toward Soto, Soto retrieved a handgun and fired a shot at their vehicle as they drove away.
Fortunately, the victims’ Tesla was equipped with cameras that captured the incident and confirmed the details of the attack. Although the Tesla sustained no damage, a spent 9mm casing was recovered from the roadway.
Using traffic camera footage, officers quickly identified the suspect vehicle and connected it to Soto. Soto was located and arrested at a residence in Mesa nine days after the incident. During the arrest, officers recovered a 9mm handgun from her boyfriend’s truck. Soto later admitted to the shooting and confirmed she was the individual in the Tesla footage.
“Firing a gun at a family because you are angry is not a mistake – it’s a dangerous, criminal choice,” said County Attorney Mitchell. “There is no place for this kind of treacherous behavior in our community. If you choose violence in Maricopa County, you will face serious consequences.”
Unbelievable! So I can attempted to kill u and only get 5 yrs?! Wow
Well, at least let’s hope she serves the complete 5yr sentence right down to the hour and minute.
Gee… “not a mistake” is right. This moron needs something to keep her occupied. Cane her every other week and let her think about THAT. Pain is a learning experience.
I think this behavior is called bat-sh*t crazy.
What a light sentence……for attempted murder. Wonder if she is a dreamer or ILLEGAL……my bet she is a dreamer that doesn’t need to be in this country in the first place.
welcome home.. and then you get out to – zero
Only five years for attempted murder?
