Phoenix Police detectives are investigating the death of a 60-year-old man who was shot by his 85-year-old father-in-law.
On July 28, 2025, at approximately 7:41 p.m., officers responded to the area of 14th Street and Topeka Drive regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an unresponsive adult male identified as 60-year-old Karl Derek Thau with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers also located and detained an adult male identified as Robert 85-year-old Angelo Feola.
The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and pronounced Thau deceased.
Homicide detectives interviewed Feola, who was then booked into the Maricopa County Jail for murder.
