Arizona State Senator Analise Ortiz may be facing criminal charges after she apparently admitted to violating federal law for impeding and doxxing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

“The comments made by Senator Ortiz are deeply troubling and do not reflect the position of the Arizona State Senate,” said Arizona State President Warren Petersen. “I spoke with the U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona and referred this matter to his office to investigate, as it appears she may be in violation of federal law. Arizona Senate Republicans stand firmly in support of ICE and the important work they do to uphold our nation’s immigration laws and protect our communities.”
“Senator Ortiz is fortunate the Legislature is not currently in session, as her remarks would no doubt face significant scrutiny from her colleagues,” added Petersen. “Public servants have a duty to uphold the law and respect those who enforce it, not undermine them.”
“Senate Republicans reaffirm their commitment to supporting law enforcement at all levels and ensuring Arizona remains a state that upholds the rule of law. We are grateful President Trump has delivered the most secure border in the history of America,” concluded Petersen.
“I will not be intimidated,” responded Ortiz on X.com. “I will alert our community to avoid the area when Trump’s masked thugs terrorize us all, regardless of citizenship. Trump doesn’t respect our laws nor our constitution. My duty is to keep people safe from his unconstitutional and authoritarian actions.”
Former Arizona State Representative Travis Grantham, who is a congressional candidate in AZ-05, called out Ortiz in an X.com post, “This behavior endangers law enforcement officer’s lives. I support investigating this and holding Senator Ortiz accountable to the fullest extent of the law and to the rules of the Senate. Prosecution and expulsion should absolutely be on the table. What a disgrace!”

Using her official Instagram account, Ortiz posted a live ICE location near a school at 8:09 a.m. on August 5th. She did this in apparent violation of 18 U.S. Code § 119, which prohibits releasing identifying information of federal officers with intent to intimidate or interfere. ICE agents fall under this statute.
According to several X.com accounts, Ortiz’s post included cross streets, time, agency presence, and a hotline number.
Petersen is running for Arizona Attorney General. Should he make out of the Republican Primary, he will face-off against Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes.
Mayes weighed in on Petersen’s accusation, claiming that Ortiz was merely exercising her First Amendment rights.
Ortiz immediately moved to capitalize on the squabble with Petersen, trying to fundraise by positing a picture of her Blue Sky account in which she shared a link to Actblue with the caption, “If you would like to help me continue fighting fascism in Arizona, donate here.”
