Yavapai County Detective Recovers Stolen $35,000 Ring, Arrests Housekeeper

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 53-year-old housekeeper in connection with the theft of a ring valued at approximately $35,000 from a Dewey resident, who is a woman in her 80s.

The stolen ring has been recovered thanks to diligent work by a YCSO detective.

The investigation began on September 12, when YCSO received a report that the victim’s wedding ring was missing from her home. The theft was believed to have occurred on September 10, the same day the suspect, identified as Michele Peterson from Prescott, was allegedly at the residence for housekeeping services.

YCSO Detectives immediately began investigating. Using online leads and other evidence, the YCSO Detective was able to locate and recover the victim’s ring and identify the suspect as Peterson. On September 24th, Detectives located Peterson and arrested her on charges including Theft and Trafficking of Stolen Property.
