Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a fatal collision where a man was struck by an SUV during the early morning hours in west Phoenix.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, at about 5:43 a.m., officers were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and an SUV near 1700 North 43rd Avenue. As officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male suffering from critical injuries. The man was provided emergency care by The Phoenix Fire Department; and was not able to overcome his injuries. The man was pronounced deceased on scene.
Detectives learned the man was attempting to cross 43rd Avenue just north of McDowell Road when he was hit. Witnesses in the area told detectives that a gray colored Jeep Cherokee had struck the man. A female in her 40’s was seen getting out of the Jeep for a short time then got back into the driver’s seat and drove away.
Anyone with information about this fatal hit and run is encouraged to call into Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446). $2,000 dollar reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
