Senator Ruben Gallego: The Military Veteran Who Threatens The Military

Sen. Ruben Gallego

By now, we have all learned or read about the ‘Seditious 6’ and their message to the military to disobey all unlawful orders. But what they forgot to mention was how a military service members are to go about disobeying an unlawful order. But I want to talk about another matter, one involving our other military veteran turned U.S. Senator, Senator Gallego and his remarks shortly after Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that he was considering an investigation into Mark Kelly. Senator Gallego’s exact words were:

“Donald Trump is going to be gone in a couple years. And if you’re part of the military that is going after sitting senators, sitting members of Congress, and part of the weaponization of government, there will be consequences.” He later added, “I think there’s going to be a lot of officers that part of this potential tribunal, if they want to call it that, that will be looking over their shoulders. Because they know that Donald Trump will be gone, and they will not have that protection. They’re going to have to do the safest thing possible, which is to follow the Constitution of the United States, and you will be fine.”

I am not the smartest guy in the world. However, we all know what the intent of the ‘Seditious 6’ was, and I know the intent of Senator Gallego is…to threaten all military service members who may take part in the investigation and/or court martial of Senator Kelly with their careers. If there is one thing that I learned after spending 20 years in the U.S. Navy, 4 years in Washington D.C. around federal politicians and leaders of other nations in an executive protection capacity, is that 99% of all military service members is 100% more professional and mature than 99% of politicians in Washington D.C., and that the quality of the officers that would be involved in whatever happens to Senator Kelly are some of the most professional and most mature people in the entire world, who unlike Kelly and Gallego, will not abuse the same UCMJ that they swore to uphold. We have politicians who will go on live TV, cuss in House and Senate hearings, call news reporters and their own colleagues’ idiots and stupid, yell as loud as they can, crying and throwing a temper tantrum act like 5-year-old children most of the time, etc. There is a time and place to cuss, and in the halls of Congress and the Senate is not the place to do it. There is a lot of truth in the saying “he cusses like a sailor”, every other word out of my mouth is a cuss word, but I know the time and place where it is acceptable and respectful. Every time I hear a politician cussing on TV in a hearing, they lose a little bit more creditability with me, and that goes for Democrats and Republicans.

I am not sure how many military members in Arizona voted in the last couple cycles, but I am not sure that any can now vote for Senator Kelly or Gallego and have the faith that they uphold the strongest and purest of military values. In both of their actions, they are “unbecoming” of not only being a military veteran, but also a member of the United State Senate. The only way that a sitting U.S. Senator can be removed from office is by expulsion, an act that requires 2/3’s vote in the Senate. Unfortunately, we cannot call both and pressure them into voting to expel themselves, so I recommend you contact your U.S. Congressmen or woman here in Arizona and have them pass the word to the other Senators is they would. What both of our Senators did was under mind our military and threaten them to do something even if they did not feel was right for them to do. This cannot stand and certainly cannot be the new norm for our leaders in Washington D.C. Is there anyone in our great state of Arizona that will stand up and challenge these “traitors” of our nation and the UCMJ that they both swore to uphold?
