Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a collision involving a pedestrian who later died.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, at around 9:38 p.m., officers responded to the area of 60th Lane and McDowell Road regarding a collision involving a pedestrian who was on a motor wheelchair. When officers arrived, they located an adult male in critical condition. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he later died. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on the scene and was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives believe that the man in the motor wheelchair was crossing in a northbound direction and not using a crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle.
The adult male driver was evaluated, and no signs of impairment were observed.
