Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating an early morning shooting that left a woman and man dead.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on December 22nd around 3:36 a.m., officers responded to a call near 7100 West Pioneer Street regarding a woman being shot who appeared deceased. Officers arrived in the area and found a woman in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the woman, later identified as 30-year-old Selena Felix dead.
During the investigation, officers learned the suspect had left the shooting scene in a vehicle. Earlier at 2:25 a.m. an officer attempted a traffic stop in the area of 900 West Paseo Street, but the driver fled and barricaded himself in a nearby home. A young child was found unharmed inside the suspect’s vehicle and was safely turned over to DCS.
Investigators determined that this vehicle was the vehicle that fled the shooting.
The Special Assignments Unit (SAU) responded to the home and began negotiations with the man. During negotiations, the man suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. SAU provided aid to the man, who was identified as 23-year-old Alexis Torres. Phoenix Fire transported him to a local hospital where he later died.
It was learned that the child found in the car was taken from a home in Avondale. Avondale PD is conducting a separate investigation regarding that incident.
