An out-of-state sex offender is in custody after he failed to register in Arizona and threatened the individual who reported him.

According to the Tombstone Marshal’s Office, on December 23, 2025, the Office started an investigation into Keith Carl Jones of St. David, Arizona, after receiving a report that Jones had sent messages of a sexual nature threatening the reporting party.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Jones had failed to register as a sex offender after moving to Arizona from Colorado in 2018, as required by law. Colorado shows Keith as a delinquent for his registration status.

The investigation was conducted jointly with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

Jones was ultimately located, detained, and interviewed by investigators of the Tombstone Marshals Office.

During the interview, Jones made statements acknowledging involvement in the reported incident. He was subsequently arrested on December 23, 2025.

Jones was booked into the Cochise County Jail on multiple felony charges, including Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He was later arrested again on December 28, 2025, on additional charges stemming from the initial investigation.
