Woman Accused of Killing Man with SUV in Phoenix

A woman is in jail after Phoenix police say she intentionally hit and killed a pedestrian last weekend.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, around 4:08 p.m., on May 3, 2026, officers responded to the area of 16th Street and Maryland Avenue regarding a collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they located an adult male, later identified as 52-year-old Norris L. Taft, in critical condition. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported Taft to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives responded to assume the investigation and began processing the scene. Preliminary information indicates the driver of the vehicle intentionally struck Taft and left the scene. It is currently unknown what led to this incident.

Detectives continued their investigation and developed probable cause identifying 30-year-old Mikela Antresa Bahe as the suspect. Investigators learned Bahe had traveled to Flagstaff, where she was located with assistance from the Flagstaff Police Department and taken into custody without incident on May 6, 2026.

Bahe was transported back to Phoenix by Street Crimes Detectives and booked into jail on murder charges related to this case
