Early information provided by callers described shots fired inside the mall and potential victims. Upon arrival, police worked to secure the perimeter and interior of the mall while shops either closed or went into lockdown, and the area was evacuated. Officers first located a male in his late teens who was critically injured by gunfire. Phoenix Fire personnel transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A second teenage victim with non-life-threatening injury from gunfire was also transported to the hospital and is recovering. The unknown suspect fled the area.
