Republican leaders were swift to condemn a vandal’s attack on a statue and memorial honoring Charlie Kirk outside Turning Point USA’s Phoenix headquarters. The attack was carried out three days after the statue was unveiled to commemorate the one-year since of Kirk’s assassination.
Turning Point issued a statement vowing to restore the statue and assist law enforcement in capturing the suspect.
We will restore the statue and replace the signs, but we are also reviewing the footage of the incident and are working with law enforcement to identify who did this and hold them accountable.
But vandalism like this is not funny; it’s diabolical. The incident happened in the middle of the night because evil never sleeps. Beyond spray-painting on the neck and face, they made the intentional decision to cross out the name of Jesus on a nearby sign.

Congressman Andy Biggs, the Republican Party’s gubernatorial candidate, stated on X.com:
Charlie Kirk believed in an America where speech is protected, and ideas are openly debated. He was murdered because some people fear—and even hate—this God-given freedom.
As today’s actions prove, the liberties Charlie died advocating for are still under attack.
We will not let the enemies of freedom win. We will continue to defend our rights, empower new generations of patriots, and honor the legacy of our fallen friend.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh condemned the attack, calling it evil.
“Truly abhorrent,” posted Hamadeh on X.com. “The Charlie Kirk statue that was just unveiled at Turning Point’s HQ was vandalized overnight with red paint. The young people who work at Turning Point don’t deserve this, Charlie’s family doesn’t deserve this, his friends don’t deserve this. The left is intolerant and militant. Evil exists and must be confronted continuously.”
Arizona Republican Party Chairman Sergio Arellano questioned the silence of Democrat leaders in the face of the attack.
“These sick freaks just spray-painted Charlie Kirk’s brand-new memorial statue—red paint across his face and the exact spot on his neck where they assassinated him last year. Then they crossed out “Jesus” and wrote “Satan,” posted Arellano on X.com. “This isn’t a protest. It’s political violence from people who celebrate death and then hide behind “mostly peaceful.” AZ Democrats staying silent isn’t an accident. They know their base loves this. I’m done pretending this is normal. Restore the statue. Arrest the cowards. And stop acting shocked when the other side finally stops taking it.”
The head of Turning Point Action, Tyler Bowyer, noted the Democrats’ silence as well.
“Still silence on the targeted political aggression from the Arizona Democrat Party, Katie Hobbs, Kris Mayes and Adrian Fontes,” posted Bowyer on X.com. “They have made it clear they support radical actions like this. Silence in the face of evil is approval.”
Former Border Patrol Agent Art del Cueto echoed the “evil” assessment in a post on X.com, “I was just there 24 hours ago and I find out some piece of human garbage has already vandalized the statue. We are dealing with pure evil!!”
Erica Kirk was defiant in her X.com statement:
“Charlie once said we should be building two statues for every statue that they tear down. His instinct was always to build, not to destroy.
They thought a bullet would silence my husband’s voice but it only made it louder. They think spray paint can obscure his legacy, but it will only spread it further. Every attempt to tear down what Charlie built makes us root deeper and work even harder.
And if you think crossing out the name of Jesus Christ will silence Christians, history has already proved you wrong. We know what it costs to stand firm for Christ and we will stand anyway. God will not be mocked.
We’ll put His name right back where it belongs, clean up the mess, restore Charlie’s statue, and keep building.
