Big money is coming to Arizona courtesy of national unions, attacking Republican legislative candidates, and trying to help Democrats capture both chambers of the State Legislature.
What is notable about the ads is that they are attacking Republicans on the issue of taxes, by making the claim that Republicans oppose tax cuts for Arizona families, and implying that Democrat candidates would support them.
The attacks from Arizona Prevails Action are completely bogus, according to critics who point out that all of the Republican incumbents being attacked voted for record tax cuts that benefited Arizona families, while the Democrat incumbents being supported voted against those same tax cuts.
“Republicans just passed record tax cuts, over Democrat objections and multiple vetoes from Katie Hobbs, so running an ad claiming Republicans oppose tax cuts is not just dishonest, it assumes voters are stupid.” observed one GOP activist who was angered by the effort.
It may be impossible to know how much money is being spent on this effort until the dust settles, but early reports were that as much as $500,000 was headed into Arizona to help Democrats take advantage of a favorable environment. Added to the existing financial advantage held by Arizona Democrats, the challenge for Republicans will be to stretch their dollars and do their best to keep up, while battling advertisements that invert the truth.
Republicans being attacked with video ads are Shawnna Bolick, Carine Werner, Matt Gress and Pamela Carter, Michele Pena, Rachel Keshel and John Winchester, Julie Willoughby, Kevin Hartke and Janet Weninger, and Chris King.
You know when Democrat-aligned talking-heads or commercials say that “Republicans want to raise your taxes”, “by giving tax breaks to billionaires” is but a breath away. People who live off and push envy are not good people, and their causes are neither good, nor fair, nor just. But lying liars are going to lie, it’s what they do.
And ads for Katie Hobbs claim that she cut taxes and closed the border. Both of which she actively opposed. She vetoed countless Republican tax cut bills that passed in the AZ Legislature. She took steps to make sure that ICE would not get cooperation from state authorities. Her ads are filled with one lie after another.
This is why I do not donate to any group generally. I will donate to candidates who appear to have same convictions as I do. It is also why I DO NOT support the influence that at large $$ generate. I firmly believe if someone wants to run for an office they should 1. be ready to finance the run itself, 2. To get out and see who they are trying to convince of their positions (havent had any contact from any supposed candidate either party). 3. be wanting to to advocate for the community/state position desired. We always hear the SAME OLD positions be spouted but it seems they FORGET what their positions were if elected. Just think of old greedy grifhalfa well it seems his daughter is just the same. She has not started/supported anything that I know of that benefits the state or country. Just holds the party line, same as the 2 idiot senators that are current in place. The govt needs to address the influence of $$ from out of state operations and let the people IN the state decide without undue influence.
Fight,fight, fight it not just a slogan. Pray, pray, pray and keep ahead of these slippery snakes! Tell your neighbors, go door to door whatever it takes. Donate if possible to these conservatives that you want to keep.
