TUCSON – A previously convicted sex offender, Juan Carlos Hernandez-Garcia, was arrested by Border patrol agents near Rio Rico.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Tucson Sector agents apprehended the 28-year-old Hernandez-Garcia early Monday morning, after he illegally entered the United States.
Agents ran a records check and discovered that Hernandez-Garcia, a citizen of Mexico, was convicted of sexual assault (victim 13-15 years old) in Passaic County, New Jersey, in 2011. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Hernandez-Garcia will face federal prosecution for immigration violations.
