
On Wednesday March 13th, 2024, Eloy Police Department detective’s arrested Juan Gomez on a homicide warrant, in connection with his role in a fatal collision that occurred over a decade ago.
The traffic collision took the life of John Lincoln on December 15, 2010, on Sunshine Blvd, in Eloy, just north of Pretzer Road.
Gomez’s arrest marks the end of a long-standing effort to bring justice to the victim’s family and the Eloy community, according to the Eloy Police Department.
Gomez was found to have been driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .145, at the time of the collision.
Following the incident, Gomez fled the country, evading law enforcement efforts to hold him accountable for his actions.
On the first day Gomez returned to the United States, he was apprehended by agents from the U.S. Border Patrol Tucson Sector. The Eloy Police Department took custody of Mr. Gomez, and he has since been booked into the Pinal County Jail on the outstanding warrant related to the homicide.
“The arrest of Mr. Gomez years later underscores the commitment shared amongst law enforcement in the furtherance of justice. This result was supported by initial investigation assistance from the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. The US Border Patrol, Tucson Sector played a key role in finding and arresting Mr. Gomez, highlighting the teamwork between agencies to bring closure to this case,” the Eloy Police Department stated in a press release.
