Teenager Dies In West Phoenix Collision

Phoenix police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that left 15-year-old Anamarie Leach dead and another male teenager injured.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were called to a vehicle collision around 4:15 a.m. near 59th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found two people trapped inside a vehicle on its side that went off the road and collided into a large tree. Officers and firefighters worked to extricate a teenaged male and Anamarie. Both were transported to the hospital by fire.

The driver, Anamarie, later died from her injuries at the hospital. The male passenger was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Encanto Boulevard when Anamarie lost control of the car and went off of the roadway and crashed into chain link fencing then into a large tree.
