
Two students have been arrested after allegedly posting threats and making false claims, after the Buckeye Police Department received multiple reports of threats of school shootings.
The Buckeye Police Department says it has received over 300 reports from citizens regarding threats involving shootings at schools in the city.
According to the Buckeye Police Department, patrol officers, school resource officers and detectives worked to investigate all of the reports received and provide increased presence at the schools.
A 13 year old female student at Bales Elementary School was arrested after Buckeye police received a tip from the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center regarding threats of a school shooting in Buckeye.
A student at Buckeye Union High School was also arrested after making a claim on social media they had seen a gun in the bathroom on campus. A School Resource Officer was made aware of the post and the school was placed in a hold. Multiple officers responded to the school to assist in the investigation. Officers were able to locate the student who made the post and determined it was from a text message he had received from another student. Officers located the 17 year old male student who sent the initial text message and determined the report to be false. The student was placed under arrest and faces both criminal charges and school discipline.
