Late Night Semi-Truck Crash In Phoenix Turns Fatal

Phoenix Police Department officers responded to a late Monday night traffic collision that turned deadly after a sedan struck a semi-truck in the area of 51st Avenue and the I-10 Freeway.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on November 11, 2024, just after 10:00 p.m., patrol officers were called to a collision scene involving a sedan driven by 33-year-old Christopher Betterson-Bishop and his adult female passenger. As officers and fire crew arrived on scene, they observed the collision involved a car and a large semi-truck.

Christopher was found suffering from critical injuries as lifesaving measures were provided. Fire personnel pronounced Christopher deceased on scene and took the adult female passenger to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives responded and learned Christopher was driving south on 51st Avenue when he failed to stop for a red light while crossing over the I-10 Freeway overpass. The driver of the semi-truck was going west on the I-10 Access Road when the collision took place.

The driver of the semi remained on scene and spoke with investigators.
