
Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a high-speed collision that resulted in the death of the adult driver and his adult passenger during Tuesday morning rush-hour traffic.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, just after 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger car in the area of 3300 West Grand Avenue. When officers got to the scene, they found a passenger car with two adult victims inside. Phoenix Fire personnel on scene confirmed both victims had died as a result of the crash.
Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Investigators learned 28-year-old Aaron Soto was driving northwest on Grand Avenue with 28-year-old Angel Loera riding as passenger. Witnesses observed the car driving at a high rate of speed when it struck the back of a semi-truck who was making a left into 33rd Avenue from southeast Grand Avenue.
The driver of the semi-truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and showed no signs of impairment.
