A former truck driver, Zane James Hammond, has been sentenced to 29 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of Attempted Murder, both Class Two Dangerous Felonies in Maricopa County Superior Court.

In a violent and premeditated attack, Hammond – a commercial truck driver based in Tucson – drove to the Phoenix headquarters of his former employer, armed with a shotgun. The attack followed a minor customer dispute, after which Hammond abruptly quit and set out to confront the company’s leadership.

Upon entering the building, Hammond marched straight into the president’s office and fired a shotgun directly at him. The victim narrowly escaped injury by flipping his desk and taking cover. Hammond then turned the weapon toward the company’s vice president, attempting to load another round. In a decisive and heroic act, the vice president tackled Hammond, disarmed him, and held him in a chokehold until Phoenix Police arrived.

“He drove to Phoenix with a shotgun and a mission to kill. That’s not rage, that’s premeditation,” said County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “Thanks to sheer bravery, no one died. Now, he will spend nearly three decades in prison, where he belongs.”

  1. Retard. Prison is the place for someone with such poor choice making and anger management skills.
