Gannett Offers Buyouts to Arizona Republic’s Top “Click Bait Columnists” and Seasoned Reporter
On the heels of Gannett Co. Inc.’s sudden July 25th announcement that the Arizona Republic will no longer be printed in Arizona, some of the outlets top reporters and columnists are being “bought out,” including Mary Jo Pitzl, Laurie Roberts, EJ Montini, Elvia Diaz, and Phil Boas.
The buyouts follow a flurry of closures that wiped out five rural newspapers in Arizona owned by News Media Corp.
The buyouts were revealed by Hank Stephenson, co-founder of the Arizona Agenda.
In his reporting released on Wednesday titled “Bloodbath at the Republic,” Stephenson wrote in part:
No loss whatsoever.
By getting rid of these uber liberal writers, the Repugnant actually has a chance to survive.
I will not shed a tear for Gannett letting EJ Montini go. Over time we had exchanged many letters over his increasingly liberal slant. I finally dropped my almost 30 year subscription to the Arizona Republic 3 years ago. I miss Boaz, the comix and the crossword puzzles but I do not mis EJ.
gone of no consequence – replacements are now plentiful
The Arizona Repugnant jumped the shark long ago. Only people still getting the paper are probably deceased and forgot to cancel their subscription. That rag hasn’t written real journalism in 30 years it all been a DNC propaganda machine. Good riddance or as we say in the Ghetto Bye Felicia
