A previously deported illegal alien, with a conviction for human smuggling, Jessica Guillen-Morales, has been sentenced to 37 months in prison after pleading guilty to Reentry of a Removed Alien and Alien in Possession of a Firearm.

The 38-year-old woman from Sonora, Mexico, received the slap on the wrist on August 12, by United States District Senior Judge Raner C. Collins.

Her prison sentence is to be followed by 36 months of supervised release.

According to the Department of Justice, on November 19, 2023, Tucson Police Department officers executed a search warrant at Guillen-Morales’ residence and found approximately six firearms, including rifles, along with ammunition. Law enforcement officials determined that Guillen-Morales was previously convicted of the federal offense of Conspiracy to Transport Illegal Aliens in November 2012.

Law enforcement officials also learned that Guillen-Morales, a citizen and national of Mexico, had been previously removed from the United States on November 1, 2023, and did not have legal authority to be in the country.

  1. Possessing firearms should not be a crime, ever. Menacing with a weapon is a crime. Actual threatening and assault with a weapon is a crime. Threats of violence is a crime. Threats of violence refencing a weapon is a crime. Having a gun in a corner or on a table is not a crime. If that’s all the prosecutors have to charge, either they suck at their jobs or it’s a bad prosecution.

  2. Judge Raner C. Collins.needs to face consequences for endangering the community. Perhaps Judges who issue minimum sentences should finish their reoffending criminals sentence with them? This must STOP!
