
Detectives are investigating an officer involved shooting near 1700 West Tonto Street.
On September 2, 2025, at approximately 11:35 a.m., Phoenix Police Department’s Special Assignment Unit was serving a search warrant related to an ongoing investigation, in the area of 1700 West Tonto Street. As officers made announcements and began breaching the door, a man inside the apartment started firing multiple rounds at the officers. One officer reacted to the gunfire, fired his own weapon striking the man.
One officer was struck by gunfire and was transported to the hospital by Phoenix Fire, with non-life-threatening injuries. Another officer received injuries from the incident and was treated and later released from the hospital.
Two men came out of the apartment and were detained. The injured suspect also exited the apartment, was detained, and transported to the hospital by Phoenix Fire with life-threatening-injuries.
