While Tucson Police officers were investigating a hit-and-run crash, they discovered one of the vehicles involved was stolen but had not yet been reported. All six passengers from the stolen vehicle fled from the scene on foot.

Officers promptly located and detained all six suspects. The driver of the stolen vehicle was a 12-year-old and charged with auto theft and hit-and-run. The five other passengers ranged in age from 10 to 13-years-old and were all charged with auto theft (joyriding) charges.

All the passengers knew the vehicle was stolen.

Tucson Police are reminding “the community to stay informed — know where your teens and children are, who they’re with, and what’s happening around them. Your involvement could make all the difference.”
