According to the Phoenix Police Department, around 5:52 a.m., officers responded to the area of 26th Avenue and Deer Valley Road regarding a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they located an adult female in critical condition. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and called 911.

Detectives believe that the vehicle was stopped at a light on Deer Valley Road, and that once it proceeded westbound, the woman stepped out in front of the vehicle. The driver was evaluated, and impairment does not seem to be a factor in this collision.
