Collision Leaves Juvenile Jaywalker Dead in Phoenix

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating the death of a juvenile jaywalker who was struck by a vehicle on January 20.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, at around 8:23 p.m., officers responded to the area of 73rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road regarding a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they located a teen juvenile female in critical condition. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene.

Detectives believe the teen juvenile was crossing mid-block when she was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling westbound on Lower Buckeye Road. Impairment is also believed to be a factor in this collision.
