A juvenile is in custody after Sahuarita Police Department officers responded to Sahuarita Middle School regarding reports of threats involving a potential school shooting on the afternoon of January 21.
Multiple reports were received concerning threatening statements made by a student at the school.
According to the Sahuarita Police Department, officers worked in coordination with designated school personnel to facilitate interviews and details regarding the reported threat. The investigation revealed that a 12-year-old student made statements threatening to bring a gun to school and harm other students with the alleged incident planned to occur on Friday, January 23, 2026. Officers conducted a thorough investigation into these serious allegations and the circumstances surrounding the reported threats.
Following the comprehensive investigation, officers successfully located and arrested the juvenile suspect. The 12-year-old student was subsequently booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center for Disruption of an educational facility.
