Wanted Woman Shot While Evading Arrest by Phoenix Police

A woman wanted on a felony warrant was shot after pointing a gun at Phoenix Police officers.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on February 5, 2026, at around 3:50 p.m., officers located an adult female with an outstanding search warrant related to a homicide investigation. Officers located the woman in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the area of 72nd Drive and Merrell Street with an adult male passenger.

Officers used their vehicles to pin the woman’s vehicle preventing her from driving off. Officers gave the adult male passenger commands to exit the vehicle, and he complied. Officers continued to give commands to the woman; however, she did not comply. A less lethal tool was utilized to gain compliance from the woman; at which point she armed herself with a handgun and pointed it at officers; this is when the officer involved in the shooting occurred.

Officers removed the woman from the vehicle and rendered aid. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she remains in stable condition.

This investigation is being conducted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division.
