Police Investigating Death of Woman Near Phoenix canal

Police are seeking the public’s help with information about a woman who was found dead near a Phoenix canal Friday morning.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on March 6, 2026, at around 7:48 a.m., officers responded to the area of 28th Street and Oak Street regarding an unknown trouble. When officers arrived, they located an adult female, later identified as Alex Fleming, unresponsive with signs of trauma. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and pronounced Alex deceased on the scene.

Homicide detectives responded to assume the investigation and begin processing the scene. The area was canvassed to locate surveillance footage. The Office of the Medical Examiner responded to take custody of the remains of Alex, and the case is pending a postmortem examination.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the police or SILENT WITNESS at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO).
