Phoenix Police Make Arrest in 2023 Homicide

Phoenix Police Department detectives have made an arrest in the death of a woman on February 5, 2023.

On February 5, 2023, just after 11:00 p.m., Phoenix police officers responded to an injured person call at Indian Steele Park at 300 East Indian School Road. When officers arrived, they located an adult female, identified as 29-year-old Karissa Danyelle Hamilton, with a gunshot wound.

Since the beginning of this investigation, detectives have worked nonstop attempting to work leads in hopes of identifying suspect(s) in this case. When all leads were exhausted, the homicide investigation was transferred to the Cold Case Homicide Squad.

On March 27, 2026, officers, working a separate investigation, arrested 28-year-old,
Andre Jermaine Gentry Nicholes. During the subsequent interview, Nicholes was questioned about the homicide of Karissa Hamilton. Nicholes made statements linking himself to the homicide. Detectives learned Nicholes was the boyfriend of the victim at the time of the incident.

Nicholes was booked on multiple charges related to the separate investigation along with charges related to the homicide.
