The suspect in an April homicide has been arrested by Phoenix Police Department officers.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on April 14, 2026, at approximately 2:27 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting near 13400 North Cave Creek Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The victim was identified as Cheyenne Amestoy.
Homicide detectives established probable cause to arrest Andrew Castanon‑Espitia for the homicide of Cheyenne Amestoy.
On May 12, detectives located Castanon‑Espitia near 16600 North Cave Creek Road, where he was taken into custody. During the stop, he was also found in possession of a large quantity of illicit drugs. He was booked on one count of murder and additional related charges.
