Suspect Sought in Phoenix Shooting Death

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a shooting death on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at around 2:17 p.m.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, Phoenix Police officers responded to a call of a shooting near 1800 North 60th Drive. The 9-1-1 caller reported hearing gunfire and then seeing a man on the ground in the roadway. Officers arrived and located the victim, later identified as 48-year-old Joshua Fernandez, who had been wounded by gunfire. Phoenix Fire transported Joshua to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information about the suspect or this crime is asked to call Silent Witness at (480) W-I-T-N-E-S-S, or (480) T-E-S-T-I-G-O for Spanish. Information leading to an arrest may earn a cash reward and callers may remain anonymous.
