The victim of a shooting in Phoenix, identified as Jesus Herrera Maykar has died.
The death of the 35-year-old Maykar is now classified as a homicide, and the 16-year-old suspect will now face homicide charges.
According to Sergeant Sheree Lee of the Phoenix Police Department,
on June 28, 2026, just after 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex near 2500 W. McLellan Blvd. When they arrived, officers found Maykar with a gunshot wound.
The suspect was located and taken into custody. The handgun used in this crime was also located. The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
