Yet another jaywalker is dead in Phoenix.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on September 4th, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire responded to reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road. Upon arrival, Phoenix Fire transported the 44-year-old male pedestrian to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the involved vehicle initially left the scene, but returned a short time later.
Detectives believe that the pedestrian was crossing 7th Avenue mid-block and not in a crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle did not exhibit any signs of impairment. The driver was not arrested.
