Suspect Sought in Shooting Death Following Argument at Phoenix Home

An argument between two women has led to the shooting death of one man.

According to Sergeant Chris Berrelleza of the Phoenix Police Department, on September 8th, 2026, at approximately 5:45 a.m., officers responded to a reported shooting at a residence in the area of 4200 North 79th Lane. Officers arrived and located two adult male victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Phoenix Fire personnel also responded and pronounced one of the men, Jesus Ivan Buitimea Valencia, age 42, deceased on scene. The other victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Officers believe there was a verbal altercation at the home between two women. At some point, the victims tried to calm things down when the unknown adult male suspect shot both victims. The suspect fled prior to police arrival and is currently outstanding.

This investigation remains active.
