Aztec Men and Women’s Soccer Earn Wins Against Chandler-Gilbert CC

TUCSON – The Pima Community College men’s soccer team bounced back in dominating fashion on Saturday against Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The No. 5 ranked Aztecs scored three goals in the first half en route to a 5-0 victory over the Coyotes at the West Campus Aztec Field.

Sophomore Sean Ribadeneira (Pinnacle HS) scored the first goal of the game in the 15th minute. He also had a hand in both goals in the second half. He provided the assist for fellow sophomore Alek Peral’s (Nogales HS) goal in the 56th minute to make it 4-0. He scored the final insurance goal in the 66th minute with an assist from sophomore Wei Wei Mannos (Pinnacle HS).

Freshman Noah Marshman (Pinnacle HS) made it 2-0 with his penalty kick goal in the 24th minute.

Freshman Dante Di Leva scored the final goal of the first half in the 35th minute as the Aztecs took a 3-0 lead at the break.

The Aztecs finished with seven shots on goal. Sophomore Tommaso Leonardi finished with one save in 56 minutes of play. Freshman Tijn Dik played the final 34 minutes with no saves.

The No. 7 ranked Pima Community College women’s soccer team earned their fifth shutout win in six games after downing the Coyotes 6-0. The Aztecs scored three goals in each half.

Sophomore Alyssa Allan scored two goals in the first half. She put the Aztecs on the board in the first minute of the game and scored to make it 3-0 in the 30th minute. Allan provided the assist to fellow sophomore Karina Tapia (Sabino HS) in the 81st minute to help secure the win.

Freshman Hazel Ramos (Cienega HS) also scored two goals and had one assist for the game. She made it 2-0 with her goal in the 17th minute that was assisted by sophomore Ava Dagnino (Salpointe Catholic HS). She also scored the first goal in the second half after receiving a pass from sophomore Yajaira Cervantes (Tucson Magnet HS) in the 54th minute. Ramos assisted in Allan’s second goal in the first half.

Dagnino also scored in the second half to make it 5-0 with an assist from freshman Zariyah Whitlock (Sahuaro HS) in the 74th minute.

The Aztecs outshot the Coyotes 27-2 in on-goal attempts. Freshman Vanessa Ceja played the first half and finished with one save while fellow freshman Amaya Andrade (Flowing Wells HS) had one save in the second half.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Field for the third straight game on Tuesday when they host GateWay Community College. Game time for men is set for 5:45 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. for the women’s team.
