No Maricopa County Voters Affected By Early Ballot Premature Mailing

Runbeck Election Services is facing scrutiny after mistakenly mailing 3,126 early ballots to Maricopa County voters six days earlier than authorized.

The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office (MCRO) notified the public of the error and said no voters were adversely affected.

According to MCRO, the premature mailing was not authorized by the Recorder’s Office, which was notified only after the ballots had already been sent.

The error affected only the timing of the mailing. The correct ballots were sent to the correct voters.

After consulting with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, MCRO determined that the ballots remain valid and do not need to be voided or reissued.

Voters who received the ballots early are advised to complete and return them normally. Any ballots received before the official start of early voting will remain unopened and securely stored until ballot processing begins.

Runbeck accepted responsibility for the error and will work with the Recorder’s Office to implement additional controls intended to prevent a similar incident from occurring again.
