Public Input Sought for Phoenix Police Department Reaccreditation

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Police Department is preparing for its first reaccreditation review through the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP), an independent process designed to evaluate law enforcement agencies against established professional standards.

The department joined ALEAP in 2021 as part of an ongoing effort to improve operations, strengthen transparency and increase accountability to the community.

A team of ALEAP assessors will conduct an on-site evaluation December 1–3, 2026, examining the department’s policies, procedures, management practices, daily operations and support services.

Accreditation is voluntary and recognizes law enforcement agencies that demonstrate a commitment to professional standards, accountability and continuous improvement.

Phoenix police employees and community members are encouraged to submit comments directly to the ALEAP Assessment Team regarding the department’s performance and practices.

Feedback may be submitted through the ALEAP Community Feedback Portal.

Accreditation is valid for four years. During that period, participating agencies must submit annual reports documenting their continued compliance with established standards.

The Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) oversees the accreditation program in Arizona.
