Yuma County armed robber sought

On Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at approximately 6:25 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a residential burglary that had just occurred in the 11100 block of E. 39th Lane. The caller stated that a male subject had broken into his neighbors’ home, taken a handgun and was seen running east bound on 39th Lane.

As deputies were en route to E. 39th Lane, the YCSO received a call at approximately 6:31 p.m. in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred in the 11400 block of E. 39th Place. Deputies were re-routed to the 39th Place address. Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim who stated that a male subject had walked up to him asking to “borrow the vehicle,” to which he replied, “No.” The suspect then pulled out a black handgun (believed to be the one stolen from the residence on 39th Lane minutes earlier) and told the victim he was taking the vehicle and demanded the keys. The suspect got into the vehicle and fled the scene, heading east bound on 39th Place.

A search of the area was conducted with the assistance of United States Customs and Border Protection ground and air support units. Unfortunately, the search for the suspect was unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’06” tall, 140-170 pounds, and 23-30 years of age.

The stolen vehicle is described as a White 2005 KIA Sedona, with Arizona license plate number AWW6309.
