Border Patrol Agents Nab Previously Removed Child Sex Offender

TUCSON – On Wednesday, Border Patrol agents nabbed, Felipe Melendez Carrillo, a previously removed child sex offender.

Agents working near Arivaca, on Wednesday morning spotted a group of 12 illegal aliens approximately 10 miles north of the international border.

Agents ran a criminal database records check and discovered that the 35-year-old Carrillo, a Mexican citizen, was convicted of sex offenses against a minor in Galveston County, Texas, in 2010. He was removed from the United States in 2013.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Melendez remains in custody, pending federal prosecution for reentry of a previously deported felon. The rest of the group was expelled to Mexico under Title 42 authority.
